1. Who We Are

Circula (“we”, “us”) operates the rotational savings platform available at circula.space and the Circula mobile application. Circula is a tool that helps groups of people manage savings circles among themselves; we do not hold, pool, or lend members' money. This policy explains what personal data we process and why.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information — your name, email address, password (stored only as a cryptographic hash), and optional profile photo and phone number.
  • Group activity — the savings groups you create or join, your payout position, contribution and payout records, and dispute records within a group.
  • Messages — chat messages, files, and typing indicators you send inside a group.
  • Device and usage data — basic technical logs, and product analytics (via PostHog) and error reports (via Sentry) used to keep the service working and improve it.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to operate your account, run the features of your savings groups (contributions, payouts, notifications, chat), verify your email address, provide support, detect abuse, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Sharing

Your information is shared only with the members of the groups you join (name, profile photo, group activity) and with the service providers that help us operate the platform: our hosting provider, PostHog (product analytics), Sentry (error monitoring), and an email delivery provider for account emails. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy obligations. We may disclose information where required by law.

5. Security

All traffic to Circula is encrypted in transit with TLS. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. See our Security page for details. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account and group data while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting us; we will remove your data except where we must keep records for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

8. Children

Circula is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect.
